So at 2:00 pm Symone says: Mom can we go early to get a good spot again?
Mom: Oh! I don’t know… Maybe…
Symone: Please if we go at 2:30 pm?
Mom: I guess…
Symone: Yeah! I’ll tell Colt!
Colt (running upstairs from the deep dark basement): Really? We get to go again? Cool! I’ll get Kodi out in the truck!
And again we were off… This time we parked in a little different spot… Partly because the angle of the sun and because it was already crowded… There was kite flying earlier and just like anything… including fishing… it’s only the die-hard ones that will get up as early as we did this am to witness this Northern Midwest fun!
We watched!
We waited!
It looked like only two were going to fly!
But then just before 3:00 PM several more showed up. They set up like they did earlier and up and up and up they went… It’s so weird seeing them slowly float away up in the sky. So cool to watch. They make you feel like you are in some kind of dream.
Symone and Colt were on a mission. They got out and ran around checking out the balloons up close and personal… Inside and out. They talked to several and asked questions…
One question was: What is the name of your balloon… (check out the website)
Another question was: Is it colder up there?
Answer to the second: “It’s just as cold!”
They had to watch out for the tether lines but said it was fun.
Thank you my little reporters… They also got cold… it was warmer this afternoon and the sun was out. But with windchill it still felt like zero degrees…
Back at the truck Kodi was jumping around in the truck. He was giggling and laughing and going crazy! He knows and feels the excitement and energy and has always like going for rides… But I wish he was not DeafBlind so he could see the beauty we saw today.
Then we (despite my telling kids I was not going to follow the balloons) followed the balloons and witnessed several land on the road. We also got to see other things like this horse
that was trying to figure out what all the commotion really was.
It really is fun to watch. Also, fun was to see the excited kids and families running out of their homes to check out the huge balloon that just landed in their yards or driveways.
A surprise to them and fun for us to see.
Colt says:You see this is why I wish I had a helicopter .. I would play “pop the balloons!”
Mom:Oh! Boy! I’m worried!
Symone: I don’t think that’s very nice!
Colt: I was JUST KIDDING!
Symone: Yeah! Right!
Mom:I hope so! Otherwise I know a young man who will be quite unhappy when we tell him he can’t get his drivers license because of his crazy ideas!
Colt: you don’t get it! Before they hit a house or trees… Just pop them so they land in time!
Mom and Symone: Oh! Got it now!
Now back home Symone is making Kodiak do the wheel barrow
walk around the living room and up and down the stairs…
What a good work out he just got… strengthen those arms and back. Helps with his scoliosis!
CHECK BACK FOR MORE EVENTS OF THE EVENING!

Kodi did such a good job with the wheelbarrow and he seemed really tired after. He must have gotten a good workout.

Oh how beautiful! The balloons in all their colorful glory with the white snow and the severe clear blue sky. Wow! I love the balloon with the butterflies, never seen one like that! So glad you all had a good time. Kodi could probably feel all the incredibly positive energy from everyone around him so happy… I think positive energy is contagious! Well mark your calendars, you know what you are doing next first of February!

Yes that balloon is Family Fresh grocery store chain…
We go every year since 1998 but weather doesn’t always allow the flights… But I have a huge collection of photos. And this is the first year that we actually chased them to see them land. http://www.hudsonhotairaffair.com/ like today they are not launching at 7:30…. Weather and winds.
