Monday – no work or school

We all got up at different times Monday… It was -13 with -33 windchill… Dad, Symone and I took my truck to an indoor auto wash and dropped it off. We then went to Panera and got us all breakfast and came home.

We ate, played with Kodiak a bit and then on her day off Kodi’s vision teacher came to show us a few things…(Colt says “what’s the point he can’t see”) but she knows Braille and mobility with his blind cane (not a stick) and she is getting Kodi ready for Braille with pre-Braille. Kodi now recognizes “more” in Braille and is learning his name Kodiak in Braille as well. So after her showing me his kit for communication I began making the ones for places… that Kodiak goes to… we will see if I did this right.

This one for school I hope is like they made that they use for school 🙂

I will work on some other places that we go to from here at home…

I plan on uploading so they can see what I did at school… also so Kodi’s doctors can see his progress and so many others as well…

we will use a board with Velcro and also his calendar box…

Our home has two bathrooms that Kodi uses… Mine upstairs because it’s the only tub and the one on the main level that is only a toilet and sink… This way he understands what one we want him to go to… 🙂

There is one more… I will explain… We go to meetings and learn about God and his son and his Kingdom. We all enjoy this very much with our family and friends twice a week… Kodi plays with these beaded lizards because they are quiet and he likes the texture…

He also sign’s “more cookie” or “more candy” and we give them to him to try to keep him quiet… so this place is something only Kodi really would understand what it means…

As you can see… It’s like a lizard and it has beads… He will understand what it means for him… At least until we get better communication. For now this will help him know what we are going to do next and where we are going to go…

I have one idea for Home, car, and some other places he goes in the community… I will work on those this weekend… 🙂

Kodiak I know my little boy that you do not understand in words just how proud I am of you… But I know you understand how much I love you.

I feel that he’s trying to learn and at times he’s frustrated. I want him to keep learning and I know he will. He’s not always so willing and sometimes we need to wait for him to show us… patience is always a plus. I’ve learned to be quite low-key. Just take it as it comes and try hard to work on the things we can improve for our family. Either that or I’m getting very very old! 🙂

Then at noon we all went to meet with the sweetest attorney I have ever met. She came highly recommended for what we needed. She is going to help is get a few things set up for Kodiak. If you are in need of a wonderful attorney for setting up trusts or other things for elderly or for special needs people I highly recommend her. We were treated like VIP’s. She is a truly beautiful person inside and out! 🙂 Thank you so much! My kids loved it and were not bored! We all learned so much.

Anyway, then we went and got what we call “lupper” it’s a late lunch and early supper. We Papa and Colt took our Expedition got gas in it and tried drying it out and took it home to change oil in it as well. Nana, Symone, Kodi and I went to the huge Target. Papa called and told Symone who is now really getting a cold and an earache to get the driving cart for Nana. She tried two of them and they didn’t have a battery left so the guy went across the other side and found one for poor Nana. She is so week and so low on her iron that she needed her cart. We giggled at how jerky the thing was and Nana crashing into things because of it… 🙂 well make bigger spaces!!! 🙂 Kodi and I just walked and walked and he giggled and giggled and then acted drunk and lazy at times. We all got home and had popcorn (some crazy people… I won’t mention names actually ate ice-cream). Then Symone began crying about her ear. It was getting worse. She begged me to take her to urgent care. So off we went to urgent care. She has a sinus infection and ear infection. So then back to our local target for prescriptions to help her get through the next 3 days. She has final exams.
Then my phone rang and it was the school alert stating that school is closed tomorrow. The cheers were yelled! Well wish work was like that at times! 🙂

We got to bed and are trying to keep Symone away from Nana (who also now can’t talk as she has lost her voice) and Kodiak. Poor baby! Hope you feel better little girlie!!!

Sometimes life is harder than I let on. I don’t like to depress other people. But then at times when we show some things that are really hard and we still can smile? It shows people that if you have the right attitude about life you can be successful. My goal is to provide for my 3 babies and at the same time help them to grow to be successful adults and my definition of successful is not the same as some. What is important to me is they keep true to their faith, keep their integrity, love each other and give support to their family and friends and show compassion, empathy and kindness to the special needs people in their lives and those they meet on their path. I don’t expect them to have high paying jobs but to work hard in whatever they do. To show passion in life and stay positive. Too many people around us are just on auto pilot and unemotional. Be excited about things… Take time to giggle about silly things. Set priorities.

I love all my little people and all the other lovely people in my life… thank you all so much!!
